Anna Starzec, a native of Poland, graduated with honors from the I.J. Paderewski Academy of Music and, in 2006, came to the United States as a recipient of a full scholarship to complete a Masters degree at Oklahoma City University. In 2008 she was awarded a full scholarship to study at the Artist Certificate Program at Southern Methodist University in the studio of acclaimed pianist, Joaquín Achúcarro. Most currently Starzec is pursuing her doctoral studies at the Stony Brook University in New York with Tina Dahl.
Starzec has performed recitals in Italy, Norway, Israel, Germany, Poland, and the United States. She was awarded the Erazmus-Sokrates Scholarship to study piano at the Hogskolen I Agder University in Norway and has been invited to participate in numerous music festivals in the U.S. and throughout Poland. Starzec won third prize from the International Piano Competition in Rome, second prize at the Hubbard Young Artists Competition in Dallas, and received a commendation of Distinction at the Ibla Grand Prize in Sicily. She was selected as the winner of Oklahoma-Israel Exchange Artists Competition and the Oklahoma Community Orchestra Competition. Most currently she has been invited to be a resident artist at the 2011 Atlantic Music Festival in Maine.
