Soo Hyun Cho

Born in Seoul, South Korea, pianist Soo Hyun Cho began piano lessons at age 5 and first studied at the Yewon Art School. Later, she studied at the Seoul High School of Music and Art and graduated with the highest qualifications. She holds her Bachelor’s degree from Seoul National University, the Master of Music degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from University of Minnesota, and the Artist Certificate Diploma from Southern Methodist University. Her principal teachers include Joaquin Achucarro, Menahem Pressler, Yong Hi Moon and Hyung Joon Chang.

She is the prize winner of the Iowa International Piano Competition, the Elinor Bell Competition, the winner of Seoul National University’s Concerto Competition, the World Piano Competition of AMSA, the Korean Times Korea’s Youth Competition and the Chosun Music Competition. She has communicated actively with audience by presenting solo and chamber recitals in various parts of the U.S, Korea, Japan, China and England. She has been featured as soloist with Masan Philharmonic Orchestra of Changwon City, Tianjin Symphony Orchestra, Kyungnam Educators Philharmonic Orchestra, UphoniSNU String Orchestra and the Orchestra of Seoul High School of Music and Art.

Soo Hyun Cho is currently the assistant professor of Kyungnam University in Changwon City, Korea.
