Sergio Tapanes Pita
Born in Havana, Cuba, in 1985, he is an active concert pianist and chamber musician. He graduatedSumma cum Laude from the Superior Institute of Art in Piano performance, Sergio earned Associates degrees in Piano performance, Piano Pedagogy, Piano Accompaniment and Chamber Music. He was awarded a full scholarship to study a Performer’s Diploma in Piano Performance under the guidance of the great and acclaimed pianist Maestro JoaquínAchúcarro at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas.
Sergiohas given many concerts, recitals and festivals in Cuba, Spain, and the U.S.A.He has played as soloist with “NuestroTiempo” orchestra in Cuba conducted byMaster Enrique Perez Mesa. This orchestra has the selection of the best players of the National orchestra and Sergio played under the baton of the titular conductor of the National orchestra.
Sergio has won several awards and a Grand Prize as a performer in many national and international piano competitions.
He won theGrand Prix as a performer in the competition and festivalof recordings Cubadisco2012 with the CD and DVD 20 PianosbyColibri Music Productions.
