Pianist Mikhail Berestnev has been described as having “...flawless technique and constant inspiration...superb sonority...” (Belgian La Libre Magazine) and “... an astonishingly gifted pianist…equally at home as a soloist and collaborative pianist” (Theater Jones, U.S.).
He has been featured as a soloist with the Sydney Symphony, Brazilian Symphony, Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia, Fort Worth Symphony, San Angelo Symphony, Meadows Symphony, The Greater North Texas Youth Orchestra among others. Mikhail has performed with orchestras and as a recitalist at the Grand Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory and International Music House in Moscow, National Concert Hall in Dublin, Flagey Theater in Brussels, Sydney Opera House, Palau de la Musica Recital Hall in Barcelona, “English Hall” at the Saint-Petersburg Music House, The Eisemann Center for Performing Arts and Moody Performance Hall in Dallas.
Mikhail’s recent collaborations include work with Grammy Award winning violinist Matt Albert, Avery Fisher Grant recipient violinist Aaron Boyd, Meadows School of Arts Distinghuished Artist-in-Residence violinist Emanuel Borok, concert pianist Andrei Ponochevny, Dallas Symphony violinist Eunice Keem, French Hornist David Alan Cooper, concert violinist Hubert, Pralitz, “Seraphim Piano Trio” (Melbourne, Australia), Sao Paulo City String Quartet (Brazil), Julius String Quartet (U.S.). In July of 2019 he made his debut at the "Basically Beethoven Music Festival" in Dallas playing together with violinist Grace Kang and clarinetist Danny Goldman where the group was described by Dallas Morning News as: "..The ensemble`s style fit the character of the music like a tailored suit..". From September of 2019 the group started their debut concert season playing concert`s around Dallas - Fort Worth Metroplex.
His list of awards include prizes at some of the most prestigious international piano competitions such as Sydney International Piano Competition of Australia (Fourth Prize and Special Prize), BNDES International Piano Competition in Rio de Janeiro (Silver Medal and Special Prize), National MTNACompetition in New York (Third Prize), Eric Sorantin Young Artist Award, Judith Solomon Piano Award in Chamber Music, Harold von Mickwitz pianoaward, Dmitri Shostakovich National Junior Competition, Voronezh Central Music School National Competition, Stanislav Neuhaus International
PianoCompetition, and The International “Delphic Games” Competition (Gold Medal).
Mikhail holds degrees from The Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, where he studied with Irina Grebenkina, Andrei Khitruk, Alexei Skavronsky and Vladimir Tropp; Texas Christian University, with Dr. Tamas Ungar; and Southern Methodist University, with Joaquin Achucarro.
Mikhail Berestnev started his second season as a Guest-Artist with "Musica Nova" Ensemble at the University of Texas at Dallas playing as a soloist and collaborative pianist under direction of renowed American composer Dr. Robert Xavier Rodriguez.
He is also a collaborative pianist for the DFW based ballet company and school "Texas Ballet Theater" (CEO Ben Stevenson).
