Marta Espinós

Marta Espinós

After receiving her Artist Certificate and Masters program with Joaquín Achúcarro at the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University (Dallas, USA), Marta Espinós stands out as one of the most unconventional figures of the Spanish musical scene.

Although her repertoire spans from 17th century to contemporary music, Marta is a lover of the period least explored on the modern piano: the Baroque.  An impassioned performer of Bach, Marta is known for her insightful interpretation of the Goldberg Variations.  She performed this monumental masterpiece in the 2011-2012 season of the Palau de la Música (Valencia, Spain), being the first pianist to tackle it in more than twenty years, since Daniel Barenboim’s performance in 1989.

Marta is an active searcher of new formulas allowing a more fluid communication with her public, in order to make classical and contemporary music more approachable and enjoyable to all audiences.  She explores the repertoire from a cross-disciplinary perspective, aiming at revealing unconventional aspects of music through lecture concerts, workshops for non-musicians, audiovisual & multimedia shows, thematic recitals and other stage recipes combining the arts.

A native of Xàbia (Alicante, Spain), Marta graduated in 2000 with honors from the Oscar Esplà Superior Conservatory of Music in Alicante, where she received the Chamber Music Degree Special Award.  From 2000 to 2004 she was a scholarship holder at the Valencia Music Institute for postgraduate studies in Piano and Chamber Music in “L’Escola de Música de Barcelona”, under the direction of Albert Attenelle and Jordi Mora. Furthermore, she has attended piano masterclasses and performance courses with Alessio Bax, Solomon Mikowsky, Jerome Rose, Alfred Mouledous, Eulalia Solé and Maria Tipo.

Marta is Artistic Co-director of LO OTRO, a company that provides artistic direction and management of unique musical projects focusing on the piano as instrumental axis. LO OTRO specializes in musical curatorship for public and private cultural institutions, design of customized programs and production of first -rate musical activities related to cultural events, from a cross-disciplinary philosophy of interconnection between arts.
