Marco Antonio Cuevas 

Born in the city of Temuco, Chile; Marco Antonio Cuevas initiated his musical studies at the Conservatory of Music of the Austral University of Chile, where at the age of 17 he obtained with highest honors, a Bachelor of Music degree studying with Ximena Cabello Volosky. Then he obtained an Artist Diploma and a Master of Music in Piano Performance with highest honors at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, under the direction of pianist Harold Martina.


From 2015, Marco Antonio studied with renowned Spanish pianist Joaquín Achúcarro, with whom he completed a Performer’s Diploma program at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.


Marco has won top prizes in national and international competitions and has received many awards and scholarships, some of the are: The Artistic Scholarship from the "Amigos del Teatro Municipal" of Santiago, Chile; First Prize winner of the "Claudio Arrau" International Piano Competition, the “Ginastera Prize” in the V José Jacinto Cuevas International Piano Competition in Mexico and the First Prize and Best performance of the Compulsory Peruvian Work Prize at the IV Chopin International Piano Competition Lima-Peru in 2017. Second Prize and the Prize for the best performance of Spanish Music at the 13ème édition du Concours International de Piano Son Altesse Royale la Princesse Lalla Meryem in Rabat, Morocco in 2018. 


He has also been awarded the Distinction of Artistic Merit (2004) and the Fernando Santiván Medal (2005) given by the Austral University of Chile. In 2004, during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Austral University he was elected as the outstanding student of the Conservatory of Music of the Austral University and received an Honor Scholarship, as a reward for his distinguished level of academic and artistic performance.   


His tours have taken him to Latin America, Europe, the United States and Middle East; where he has performed Chamber Music and solo recitals in: Argentina, Chile, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, Panama, Peru, Poland, Spain and the United States, where he has received excellent reviews from the critics and audience.


Recent highlight performances include, a recital at the Schloss Herzberg, Germany; at the birth-house of Chopin in Źelazowa Wola, Poland; and a recital in the International Season of the Sociedad Filarmónica de Lima, Peru. 

Upcoming recitals include, a recital at the National Theatre Mohammed V in Rabat, Morocco and a recital at the Music Festival of Mafra ‘Filipe Sousa’ in Portugal.
