Andrey Ponochevny

Andrey Ponochevny, Bronze Medal Winner of the 2002 International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow, was honored as the featured pianist at the General Assembly of the World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC) in Washington,D.C.


In addition to his success in Moscow, Mr. Ponochevny has won many top prizes, including First Prize at the “Tomassoni International  Piano Competition in Cologne”, Germany (1996) and the First Prize at the “William Kapell International Piano Competition in Maryland”, (1998) as well as seven others top prizes in Prague, Warsaw(Chopin), Dublin(AXA), Hong Kong, Riga, and Moscow, Louisiana.


Since then, he has toured extensively in the United States (in 17 states). He has been the featured soloist at Alice Tully Hall in New York’s Lincoln Center; Kennedy Center and Phillips Gallery in Washington, D.C.; Preston Bradley Hall in Chicago, in Cleveland Institute of Music, At 2007 season he has performed twice at Carnegie Weil Recital Hall (with the violinist Emanuel Borok and solo performance).


As orchestral soloist, Mr. Ponochevny has appeared with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Des Moines Symphony, Rogue Valley Symphony and the Illinois Symphony, Nashua Symphony, Warsaw Philharmonic, Orchester der Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Belasrussian State Symphony among others.


In recent seasons, Mr. Ponochevny has been featured in Europe at major venues including the Beethovenhalle in Bonn, Philharmonie in Cologne, and the Forum in Ludwigsburg, Germany, at the Chopin Societies in Poland, Switzerland and Germany at the National Philharmonic Hall, Warsaw, Salle Alfred Cortot, Paris, Stadtkasino, Basel.


Andrey Ponochevny has also performed at several prestigious festivals such as International Ruhr Klavier Festival and the Bonner Herbst, Germany, Palacio de Festivales, Santander, Spain; International Ludwigsburg Festival; Serie de los Nuevos Virtuosos in Puerto Rico.
